Today very commonly causes infection of the skin and mucous membranes is known as Herpes Simplex Virus.  It infects many people all around the world each year. The virus develops blisters around the mouth area and patients suffer painful experience.

Among the two types of virus i.e. HSV-1 and HSV-2, then second one is quite dangerous. In the primary stage of the infection patients don’t realize the presence of HSV virus in her body. And because of this nature, it spreads widely. Herpes has two forms such as oral herpes and genital herpes. Oral herpes is seen among children and often untraced where as genital virus infected through the saliva of the affected person. It is often called sexually transmitted disease (STD). It is seen than HSV-1 is responsible for half of the genital infection. Through bodily fluid HSV virus passes. It includes semen, fluid in the female genital tract, saliva etc.

When this virus enters in to the body it tries to attack the vulnerable cells in the skin tissue and reproduces the cell nuclei. No symptoms can be seen when they enters into the cell. HSV destroys the host cells when multiplies and occurs inflammation or fluid-filled blisters. Sometimes, the virus remains in latent form and multiplies without damaging the host cell. This disease may be treated but patient is not fully cured. Blisters may disappear without treatment within two to ten days but the HSV remains inside the body of the affected person.

HSV may infect the eye which leads to herpes keratitis condition. Patient feels very much discomfort and inflammation in the eye. Sometimes looses the vision. Pregnant women, who carry genital herpes, can transmit this virus to the new born babies. Symptoms may last to several weeks from its introduction. Oral herpes patient may have fever, fatigue, headache etc. To stay safe and precaution against HSV proper knowledge is required. Infected pregnant women should not use unproductive sex.

Most common antiviral drugs are Valaclovir, Acyclovir or Famcyclovir. These drugs prevent the reproduction of the virus following a therapy. Infected person may experience side effects using these drugs. So it is suggested that medicine should be taken when stomach is full. Patients who suffered frequent recent outbreak may require taking suppressive treatment therapy. During a genital infection take the following measures-

  • Try to wear loose cloths
  • Don’t touch the sores
  • Take painkillers if necessary
  • Wash your hands if you touch the sores
  • Avoid sunlight
  • Place lukewarm cloths on the affected area and keep it clean
  • Avoid  kissing and sexual intercourse with another person
  • Drink much water in a short interval

Apart from the prescription, many sufferers suggest to take natural fruits such as melon, berries, green tea. Doctors may prescribe viral DNA test, blood test and other therapy to identify the presence of HSV virus inside the body. This disease is not cured fully rather diagnosis and prevented by taking some drugs. Some ointment creams are also very much effective. You must fulfill the course of medication.
